Hi Lawrence,

Something to clarify firstly - perhaps I didn't explain clearly in the previous post:

  1. N.B., The exception is ONLY sensitive to '\u'.
    I am referring to the content of config.property file (also the property.txt I provided).
    That is, the exact property which is being parsed.
    During my test, the IllegalArgumentException only occurs if you have '\u' inside the property file (not the file name or path).
    That is, as example, C:\usr\sap\...

    If you change it to C:\sr\sap, you'll see something different.

    And if you change it to C:/usr/sap, you'll see the correct result.

    P.S., '\u' is a bad notation by me. I was referring to a string "\u".

  2. We don't talk about IO exception. It is irrelevant to our topic.
    The IllegalArgumentException occurs when we are parsing the file, which is after the file is loaded.
    Hence we don't care about the method new File().

  3. Let's sort out our thoughts. I might have misunderstood you from the beginning...
    On the never-affected systems, what is currently in the properties file?
    "\u", or "/u"?   ->  I assume it is "/u".

Before any further assumption, I would wait for your answer.

BR, Tom
